Karla graduated from Duke University in May 2003 and matriculated the Medical Scientist Training Program (M.D./Ph.D.) at UCSD School of Medicine in Fall 2003. She is currently a fourth year student in the MSTP and a second year graduate student in the Biomedical Sciences Program. She rotated in Dr. Gerwick's laboratory in November 2005 and joined the lab shortly thereafter. Her thesis work entails bioassay guided isolation and characterization of natural products active against Alzheimer?s targets.
