A graduate student of Lena Gerwick in Marine Biology, Tristan is interested in gene expression of the innate immune systems of fishes. His current projects include the elucidation of the innate immune function of a new family of proteins in Zebrafish and a study of the relative health of the California hailbut (Paralichthys californicus) in the bay of San Diego. Definitely an out-of-towner, Tristan hails from North Carolina where he achieved bachelors degrees in Computer Science and Marine Biology at UNCW. When not feeding the fish, you'll likely find him at a local jazz club or triathlon.
